They always say you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl. That's me,and now that I am back in the country I couldn't be happier! Thanks to God, we were able to move on to a 40 acre farm. Life on the farm is busy and we are always learning something new. My husband, Brett is the worlds best handyman. He was raised in town but I think that deep down he has always been a country boy. Together we are learning to raise cattle, chickens, and are even venturing into raising goats. We enjoy gardening and we are learning square foot gardening with the help of our mothers. We are striving towards self-sufficient living and hope to be there soon. Along with a passion for the outdoors and animals I also have a passion for photography. I have owned my photography business for about 13 years now. Nothing gives me more pleasure then to photograph a new baby or a couple getting married and beginning a new life together. I hope that you will join us as we learn new things and enjoy life on the farm.

Eagles Landing

About 4 years ago we moved to our home. When folks ask us how we found it I always say it was a God thing, truth is it was a God thing and a Brett thing. When Brett and I got married almost 15 years ago, I told him that I did not want to live in town forever and would eventually want to move to the country.

Well, 11 years went by and we were still in town because Brett was looking for the perfect place. You see his father Jim Ross and him like to fly Power Para Gliders, so in order for me to get my dream, Brett had to get his dream which was a place with a perfect flying field. After 11 years I decided to give up looking. I couldn't find anything in our price range that both of us agreed on and after all we almost had our house in town paid off and our kids were almost all out of the house.

I gave up, I decided that living in town was just my destiny. Thank God it was not God's plan for us. It's funny how we think that we have control of everything when in fact God has control of everything. Anyways, when I was home sick one day I happen to open up the paper and was looking through the ads when something caught my eye. It said 3 bedroom home with 40 acres for sale and it listed a price that was in our price range. I don't know why except it was God dragging my body out of bed, in my pajamas and all, I got in my vehicle and drove straight to the house. Now those of you that don't know me, that was a miracle in its self because I was not that good with directions at the time. You have to understand that this house was out in the middle of nowhere with no street signs. When I pulled into the drive I got a feeling that is hard to explain, it's like that feeling you get when you go home to your mom's and she has a big dinner and apple pie ready for you. That feeling of love and well you know just being home, I knew that I was home. I got out and looked around, there was an old barn that I loved, and I peeked inside the house and I seen a large open kitchen I longed for, and last but not least I walked out in the field and I seen a large area that my dear husband and his father could fly from.

I called Brett and told him that he had to come see the place now, not later but now! So, I went and picked him up at his work place and took him there. He loved it at first sight, the field that is, ha-ha. He also loved the house and the shop that he dreamed of having. So, we went and got his mom, Jannie, and took her to see it. You can just guess; she loved it also. After Brett got off work we took Jim out there and he really loved the field. We finally got to see the inside and all that I could see that was going to be a problem was the place didn't have enough bedrooms. They did have a garage though that we could turn into a bedroom so that didn't stop us. All of us agreed that it was definitely the place for us so we called the bank to see what they would do for us.

The next day we got the go ahead from the bank so we called the owners and told them we were ready to sign. It took about 2 months of up and downs and red tape but we were finally able to move in right before Thanksgiving. It hasn't been a easy road due to the fact that the market crashed about two months after we moved in. We were stuck with a house we couldn't sell for two years which caused a great financial strain on us. When we finally did sell the house we had to take a great loss. Through all of this I have learned that no matter what God is in control, he got us through it and he continues to supply us with what we need, maybe not what we want so much ha-ha, but what we need. I've learned that no matter what we are going through and no matter how bad we think it is God is there holding us up the whole time.

As I look back and think about everything that we have been through I wonder if we did the right thing by buying our home. We were financially set, things were easy to take care of in town, and we didn't have to travel several miles if we needed something in middle of the night. Then I look at what we have now, how could I ever want to turn back time and do things different. Brett and Jim have their own field to fly from, I have my dream, and nothing makes me happier then to hear that man yelling "Yahoooo" as he flies over me.
