About Me

They always say you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl. That's me,and now that I am back in the country I couldn't be happier! Thanks to God, we were able to move on to a 40 acre farm. Life on the farm is busy and we are always learning something new. My husband, Brett is the worlds best handyman. He was raised in town but I think that deep down he has always been a country boy. Together we are learning to raise cattle, chickens, and are even venturing into raising goats. We enjoy gardening and we are learning square foot gardening with the help of our mothers. We are striving towards self-sufficient living and hope to be there soon. Along with a passion for the outdoors and animals I also have a passion for photography. I have owned my photography business for about 13 years now. Nothing gives me more pleasure then to photograph a new baby or a couple getting married and beginning a new life together. I hope that you will join us as we learn new things and enjoy life on the farm.

Wow what a year 2012 was! I am just now catching up on everything but still have some work to do. We had a calf the day after Thanksgiving and started milking about a month later. We are loving the fresh milk and butter but are still trying to get use to the 5:00am milkings lol.

In August out next to the youngest adventured out on her own and moved to Kansas. It was hard watching her go but it is nice to have a guest room now :)

In October we took my dad and mom to Colorado so my dad could see his hometown one more time and they could see where my brother lives. We had a great time and made some great memories.

In November we sent my mom to see her mother in Montana. She had a great time and came back with some great stories.

In December our next to oldest daughter graduated from nursing school in Hays, Ks. She is working on her board test now so hopefully she will be able to get a job soon!

I have started teaching a photography class at the Vo Tech and I love it. It has really helped me remember all the things that I learned in college. That has been a just a few years so I have really had to study some.

My husband and I have made some financial goals for this year so I am hoping in December I will be able to make a life changing move and quit my full time job at the school board. Of course this will mean us being very disciplined so I will be reading all the information on frugal living that I can get my hands on. I hope this will move will give me more time to help our parents and spend time with my family, plus spend time developing my business more.

I am really excited about all the challenges that we are facing this year and am ready to face them with God's help. I look forward to sharing how we are managing with you all and will try really hard this year to not let the blog go for so long without checking in :)

Our daughters new home in Kansas.
